OUR PRACTICEThe physicians of Rehabilitation Associates, PSC are specialists in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R). Our goal is to provide excellence in the care of our patients and assist them in reaching their full potential. The medical staff of our practice includes board certified PM&R physicians, as well as physicians with additional board certification in Pediatrics and Orthopaedic Surgery. We also have a certified physician assistant and certified nurse practitioner on staff to assist our physicians in patient care. Physiatrists have advanced training in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of physical impairment and associated disabilities. We assist the medical team through the coordination of rehabilitation care for patients with varying degrees of impairment. This includes newborns with congenital birth defects, or people of all ages with disability due to disease or traumatic injuries. The primary care physician maintains overall medical management, while the physiatrist directs an interdisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, and other allied health personnel for the patient’s rehabilitation plan. Through studies of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, it is estimated the average American will spend 13 of 75 years with some type of activity limitation; for every $1 spent on rehabilitation, the public saves $11 in long-term disability costs. The physiatrist considers all aspects of the patient’s life - physical, psychological, social, and vocational. They work with patients to help them understand their condition and how to reach optimum function. |
